The “dress down” campaign is part of the Cool Biz programj to encourage those who occupt office buildings to raisew their thermostats two to four degrees to cut energg costs related toair conditioning. The program, which was launche d last summer, is intended to reduce emissions from power plantzs and ease heavy daytime demands that elevat eenergy costs. According to a press release from Hickenlooper’s officr of communications, the program resulted in significant energu savings in the two monthx it was in place last year compared to the year Energy usage in seven participating city buildings wasdown 6.4 percentg in July and 7.
