IRS charges former Mercury Interactive exec with tax evasion - Sacramento Business Journal:

Sharlene Abrams, then a residentg of Los Gatos, was charged with three one over her personal 2001 tax filing and two for her part inthe "false and filings of Amnon Landan, then Mercury's chief executive, and Kenneth then its chief operations officer. Mountaim View-based Mercury Interactive eventually paida $28 milliob fine to settle a civil complaintg by the Securities and Exchange Commission, as well as a paymenr of $117.5 million to pensio n funds to settle a class action over the misdatesd options. Mercury Interactive, whicyh was later acquired by Palo Alto-basesd (NYSE: HPQ), was one of the first companies cited in connectiobn with manipulation ofstock options.
H-P employsd thousands in Roseville. The filed in U.S. District Court for the Northern Districyof California, said Abrams "orchestrated the backdating of stocl option exercise dates for herself, Landan and Kleih in order to reduce the income taxes."
